Some of you may be aware of a new poster depicting Barack Obama as The Joker (as portrayed by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight). Steven Mikulan blogging at the LA Weekly had a cow and, unsurprisingly, played the race card:
Yet no mention by the no doubt esteemed Mr. Mikulan of a similar image used as the actual cover of the LA Weekly while Bush was president. As usual, free speech is fine for these folks, but only as long as it's theirs.
Still, the image doesn't really make sense. The Joker was, if anything, an anarchist, not a socialist. Here is a much more appropriate alteration of a known image of Barack Obama.
Hat tip, as it so often is, to Mike Hendrix at Cold Fury here, and here. Go there for more links to liberal/media hypocrisy.
The poster, which bears a very superficial resemblance to Shepard Fairey's famous Obama Hope illustration, has been pasted on freeway supports and other public surfaces. It has a bit of everything to appeal to the drunk tank of California conservatism: Obama is in white face, his mouth (like Ledger's Joker's) has been grotesquely slit wide open and the word "Socialism" appears below his face. The only thing missing is a noose.
