Credit where it's due
The Senate voted to make permanent the deduction of state and local sales tax from taxable income when filing your federal income tax return. This means that residents of states such as Washington that have no income tax (at least for now, see my earlier post) can deduct their sales tax while residents of states that have both can choose which to deduct.
Now is just needs to be passed by the House of Representatives and signed by the President.
